First Scholarship In Memory Of Local CPA Given

Edward Lamar Reeves, Alabama Society of CPAs (ASCPA) member and resident of Spanish Fort, passed away on December 1, 2020. In memoriam, Smith Dukes and two of Reeves’ clients made contributions to the endowment effort for a scholarship at the University of Montevallo, his alma mater. The scholarship was recently made official, and the first recipient was presented with the $2,500 E. Lamar Reeves, CPA, ASCPA Educational Foundation Endowed Scholarship. Reeves joined Smith Dukes after he graduated from the University of Montevallo in 1986 and was admitted to its partnership in 1998. He served as 2010/2011 chair of the ASCPA board of directors, having served previously in all other offices, as a member of the board and in numerous offices for the ASCPA Mobile Chapter. In 2017, he was awarded the ASCPA Life Member Award. Also that year, the award was renamed in his honor in recognition of his service to the profession.
