Segers Breaks Ground on Engine Testing Facility
The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce reports that Fairhope-based Segers Group is constructing a facility for a new indoor dynamometer test cell. Segers acquired the test cell from Rolls-Royce at the end of 2019 but only recently received approval from the City of Fairhope for its construction plans. Representing a major component of the upgrade and expansion of the equipment and capabilities at the site over the last two-and-a-half years, the cell will be able to test T56 and AE2100 engines installed on Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules airplanes and the T56-A-427 in Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye airplanes. Site work has been underway since October, and the cell’s installation is ongoing. Plans are for it to be complete by the end of the year. Summerdale-based Cunningham Delaney Construction is the prime contractor and is working closely with Calgary, Canada-based Yanos Aerospace, which is supporting the engineering and technical aspects of the cell.
