Davidson Senior to Be First African-American In Mobile Ballet Lead

Davidson High School Senior Victoria Blakely will become the first African-American to take on a lead role in a Mobile Ballet production, NBC15 reports. Blakely will be making history when she plays Princess Tiana in the upcoming production of the season opener, The Princess and the Frog, at the Mobile Saenger Theatre on October 16 at 7:30 p.m. and October 17 at 2:30 p.m. This performance will also feature Mobile Ballet dancers with guest artists and local theatrical singers through a collaboration with The PACT Theatre Co. One of several accomplished dancers from Davidson’s program, Blakely said she wants to inspire other young dancers in Mobile and audition for a national ballet dance company after she finishes high school.
