“YES” Students Graduate

MOBILE, Ala. — Since the Mobile City Council welcomed the latest class of its YES (Youth Empowered for Success) internship program on May 31, the 104 local students have worked throughout 27 different city departments. They helped staff and gained hands-on work experience. On June 28, the sixth YES graduating class celebrated its work together during a luncheon featuring a diverse panel of working professionals from Mobile. “Since 2016, more than 2,000 young Mobilians between the ages of 14 and 24 have taken advantage of YES job placements with local companies and our city departments,” Mayor Sandy Stimpson said. “At least 30 members of the current class will be sticking around after July 1 to help the Mobile Parks and Recreation Department with summer camps throughout the city.”
