Bonsai Showcase To Start April 29

The Azalea City Bonsai Society will showcase its collection of bonsai plants on April 29-May 2 at the Mobile Botanical Gardens Botanical Center Giftshop during its regular 9 a.m.-5 p.m. business hours. It will feature bonsai created from trees native to the Southeast, as well as exotic tropical species, flowering plants and typical juniper species. Most bonsai specimens on exhibit have been in development by the bonsai artists for more than 25 years. Additionally, its “First Friday” on May 1 at 10 a.m. will be “Care & Keeping of Bonsai” featuring local bonsai artist Joe Day. Day will speak on basic bonsai methods and care and style a 30-plus-year-old Kingsville boxwood shrub. First Fridays are included with general MBG admission and are free for its members.
