MMofA Free Initiatives To Start Today
The Mobile Museum of Art (MMofA) will again host its popular free admission initiatives for the summer. “Recently, we opened new exhibitions which range from an entirely interactive gallery filled with animals, plants and mystical creatures made from recycled materials to a career spanning retrospective of MacArthur Genius Award-winning artist Aminah Robinson,” said Executive Director Jon Carfagno. “We are so excited that our community will have the opportunity to experience these shows through our summer access program.” Free Thursdays will allow Mobile County residents to visit the museum at no cost every Thursday with proof of residence. Museums for All, a national initiative of the Institute of Museum and Library Services, will provide free general admission to individuals receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits. Blue Star Museums offers free admission to active-duty military personnel, veterans and their families (up to four guests) between May 16 and September 5. Finally, MMofA will offer free summer admission to teachers and first responders—including fire, police, emergency medical services personnel and nurses—from May 1 through September 5. A valid school or institutional ID is required for entry, and up to four guests may accompany eligible entrants.
