Warren Averett Celebrates 50th Anniversary

MOBILE, Ala. — Warren Averett CPAs and Advisors is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, partly with the introduction of a “50 Acts of Service” challenge, in which employees will complete 50 community service projects throughout the Southeast. The firm also plans to offer limited-edition merchandise, have an employee “Spirit Week” in the fall and hold client appreciation events. Several Birmingham entrepreneurs opened a small firm named Pearce & Summerford, PC in 1972. This would eventually become Warren Averett, which saw a series of reorganizations during the 1980s, until it was renamed Warren, Averett, Kimbrough & Marino, PC in 1986. The company says that, by the end of the 1990s, it was the country’s 71st-largest accounting firm. In 2012, three regional accounting firms across the Southeast combined to create today’s Warren Averett CPAs and Advisors. The firm continued to grow, expanding in Tampa, Atlanta, Mobile and Panama City. In 2021 and 2022, Warren Averett was named one of Forbes’ “Best Accounting Firms” and “Best Tax Firms.”
