ACF Sustainability Summit Speakers Announced

The Alabama Coastal Foundation (ACF) has announced speakers for its 11th Annual Sustainability Summit, taking place on January 31 at 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at The Lodge at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores. Scott Bannon (Alabama Marine Resources), Chris Nelson (Bon Secour Fisheries) and Chuck Wilson (Navy Cove Oysters) will be on its luncheon keynote panel moderated by Rusty Grice (Auburn University) to discuss the challenges and opportunities for sustaining Alabama’s oyster industry. Also, both Michal Robinson and Jonathan Thompson (both of the Alabama State Department of Education) will provide a keynote presentation on Alabama’s Green Ribbon Schools. The yearly professional development event is intended to encourage people in the private, public and social sectors to understand the economic and environmental benefits of using sustainable practices. Its schedule includes four tracks with three concurrent sessions on subjects such as city recreational programs, education, living shorelines, technology and decarbonization strategies.
