Agricultural Industry Program Starts October 3

The Mobile County Extension Office has launched a new program called “Ag Leadership.” Scheduled for October 3, 10, 17 and 24 at 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., the free event will include a certificate of completion and swag bag for those who attend each date. Lunch is included, and attendees will be taken to field sites in a chartered bus. Week 1 will feature exhibits on facts and myths. Week 2 will show peanut harvesting at Driskell Farm, growing fruits and vegetables and direct marketing of agricultural products at Sessions Farm and raising cattle and processing at Mason Hills Farm. Week 3 will show fundamental plant research at the Ornamental Research Station, nurseries at Martin’s Nursery and commercial tree farming at Oak Hill Tree Farm. Week 4 will feature a farm-to-table luncheon with a keynote speaker at Hayes Farm. For more information, contact the office at phone: 251-574-8445.
