Honey Harvesting Workshop Coming To MBG

The Mobile Botanical Gardens (MBG) is hosting Honey Harvesting on June 27 at 1-2:30 p.m. at MBG. Local apiarist Veronica Culberson will guide attendees through the processes the bees use to collect and convert flower nectar into honey, how they store it, the various ways it’s retrieved and extracted by humans, and what can be done with it afterward. She will discuss safe harvesting practices, including how to know when to take it, how much to leave with the bees, the equipment needed and more. Participants will trim, spin and bottle their own honey to take home. The cost is $30 for MBG members and $35 for nonmembers.
