Mobile Receives GOMESA Funding For Brookley BY The Bay Access

The City of Mobile has been approved to receive $7.5 million in Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA) funding for two major projects that will expand public access to local waterways and support future economic development, Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson announced. The allocations will support a new access road to Brookley by the Bay, strengthen downtown’s riverfront infrastructure and build a boardwalk connecting city-owned properties along Water Street. At Brookley, the new road will provide vehicle access to the 90-acre site on western Mobile Bay, where the city will build a waterfront park. It will also lay the groundwork for future phases of construction for the park and support economic development at the adjacent Brookley Aeroplex. Downtown, it will help extend the bulkhead at Cooper Riverside Park and build a boardwalk linking the park to the Mobile Convention Center and the future site of River Walk Plaza
