Baldwin County Youth Orchestra Fundraising for Building

The Baldwin County Youth Orchestra is raising money for a building in which to hold its sessions, GulfCoastNewsToday.com reports. The group has hosted more than 500 students from across the county in its decade of operation. Following Hurricane Sally’s damage to Fairhope Avenue Baptist Church, where it had been operating, the orchestra was unable to rehearse there and is currently only at a temporary venue. Now, in an effort to secure its own location, the orchestra has launched a $50,000 building fund in the hopes of either securing a two-year lease or placing a down payment on an existing building. It performs twice a year: its next event is the Classical Christmas Concert on December 14 at 7-10 p.m. at the Daphne Civic Center. The concert includes a fundraising silent auction. Those wishing to donate are asked to call Director Leroy Hughes at 251-979-6834.
