Dauphin Island Native American Festival Tomorrow
DAUPHIN ISLAND, Ala. — The Dauphin Island Native American Festival, celebrating the Native American heritage of Dauphin Island and surrounding areas dating back to 1100, is being held on March 26 at 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Indian Shell Mound Park. Features include hands-on demonstrations of Native American arts and crafts such as pottery, weaving and canoe carving. Living historians and storytellers will exhibit 18th- and 19th-century Creek hunting camps and tell stories about Native Americans and the French who made port on Dauphin Island in 1699. Food and traditional arts and crafts will be available for purchase. Tickets are $15 for ages 14 and up, $10 for ages 5-13, and free for children under 5.
