Excelsior Band Preservation Event Coming Up

Mobile’s Excelsior Band, in partnership with Vanguard Archives Consulting, invites community members, friends, families and supporters to help preserve the band’s history and legacy on October 17 at 1-4 p.m. at the Historic Avenue Cultural Center at 564 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. The band is asking the community to help preserve its history through their photographs, recordings, documents and memories. Any associated material is welcome. Material may be digitized onsite to help document and preserve the band’s history, allowing attendees to keep their original materials. Community members are also invited to bring a limited number of personal photographs and documents for free digitization, but nothing is required to participate.
