Greater Mobile Student Art Show On Display

The Mobile Arts Council (MAC), in partnership with Amp Up Arts, has announced the Greater Mobile Student Art Show, on view all month. This exhibition provides K–12 students from across Greater Mobile with the opportunity to showcase their artwork in a professional gallery setting. Led by Kathleen Kirk Stoves and Sydney Cramer, the program expands access to high-quality arts education. Cramer, MAC program and advocacy manager, has helped bring the former Visual Arts Achievement Program and Young at Art to fruition year after year. Though the Alabama State Council on the Arts has discontinued those programs, Cramer is keeping the same format for submission and will continue to be the lead contact for educators looking to exhibit student work. This year’s awards will be handcrafted art plaques by acclaimed local artist Lucy Gafford Kastrantas. Awards will be given to the top juried artwork in several categories. The awards reception will be on February 28 at 12-2 p.m. at Room 1927 adjacent to Saenger Theatre Mobile.
