Gulfquest Announces Next Gulfchat

The National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico (GulfQuest) has announced its January GulfChat, taking place on January 12, 2023, at 6-7 p.m. It will feature Dr. Alison Henry, Biology and Natural Science instructor at the University of Mobile, who will speak on the “Pelican Girls” and their journey from France to Mobile. According to The Saucier Family Genealogy, the 23 Pelican Girls were the first "brides" that came to Mobile and the Louisiana colony to marry the French settlers by way of Dauphin Island in 1704. The presentation will be recorded and posted on social media after the event.
