History Museum Of Mobile Names Director

Board of Directors of the History Museum of Mobile has announced the appointment of the museum’s newest director, Jon Sexton. Sexton comes from Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History in Georgia, where he served as director of operations. He previously served as assistant manager of historical resources for Sarasota County, Florida. A native of Arkansas, he holds a BA in history from the University of Arkansas and a master’s in history with a specialization in public history from Royal Holloway, University of London. He will oversee the history museum and its three other campuses, the Africatown Heritage House, Colonial Fort Condé and the Phoenix Fire Museum, all in Mobile. The board has searched for a new director since Meg McCrummen Fowler resigned in August 2023.
