MAC Details Two Exhibits For September

The Mobile Arts Council (MAC) is presenting two exhibitions this September, Lunch Lines by Anne Brookes and The Edge of Abundance by Janie Johnson and Kathy Martin. For nearly six years, while working in Downtown Mobile, artist Anne Brookes took time during her lunch breaks to explore the city with a sketchbook in hand. Lunch Lines displays the familiar sights in a series of sketches born from these midday walks. In The Edge of Abundance, Johnson and Martin reflect on the richness of the natural world and the creative mind. An avid kayaker, Martin draws inspiration from the variety of wildlife and plants she encounters on her paddles through Fowl River. Johnson’s works explore complementary themes, with the exhibit as a whole inviting viewers to consider the many ways abundance shapes their lives. An official opening reception for both exhibits will take place during LoDa ArtWalk on September 12 at 6-9 p.m. at the MAC Gallery at Room 1927 adjacent to Saenger Theatre Mobile. They will remain on view through the end of September, free and open to the public.
