The Mobile Botanical Gardens (MBG) has announced “Following in the Footsteps of the Great Women Artists,” a course that reviews the contribution women artists have made across the centuries to the canon of art history in general and to botanical art in particular. The classes will review and study the work, style and technique of several famous women artists, celebrating their originality, spirit and advancements of the traditions of painting and drawing. Derek Norman will instruct the seven-week course at MBG’s Larkins Classroom on Fridays at 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on January 12, 19 and 26; February 9, 16 and 23; and March 8. The fee is $125 for MBG members and $150 for nonmembers.
