MMofA Announces Special Logan Exhibition

The Mobile Museum of Art (MMofA) will open a new special exhibition by internationally celebrated artist Juan Logan titled Without Stopping. It will feature a 6- X 16-1/2-ft commissioned painting of the same name that will enter the museum’s permanent collection. The painting is Logan’s response to his learning about the people and histories of Africatown. Logan currently resides in North Carolina, and his works can be found in prominent private, corporate and museum collections, including the Smithsonian, Whitney Museum of American Art, Baltimore Museum of Art and Philadelphia Museum of Art. The exhibition will feature selections from his far-reaching Elegies series. Traversing the “intricacies of memory,” this body of work includes more than 200 compositions that explore contemporary themes, including the intersection of identity, race, place and social mobility. Without Stopping will be presented in collaboration with Clotilda: The Exhibition at the Africatown Heritage House. Without Stopping will be on view at MMofA from May 9, 2025, through February 14, 2026.
