Mobile Painter Wins Special Recognition

MOBILE, Ala. — The Mobile County Health Department recently announced that Ty Tover, a peer counselor with the department, contemporary expressionist painter and Mobile native, has had five pieces of art accepted, with one winning special recognition, at the inaugural World Health Organization Futures Art Exhibition. A panel of experts chose Tover’s painting, Alone, as one of the most inspiring and thought-proving pieces in the “Technology” category, which examines ways in which the evolution of technology could affect health and well-being in the Western Pacific in 2050. While all of Tover’s works have been pinned at the top of the exhibition’s 2D gallery for the past several weeks, Alone is now exhibited in a dedicated 3D virtual gallery. His artwork has also been shown in local exhibitions, including the Mobile Arts Council’s most recent, “Black Health and Wellness.” Tover’s work is currently featured in the Mobile Arts Council’s Virtual Art Gallery.
