MSO Kicks Off New Season On October 2 and 3

The Mobile Symphony Orchestra (MSO) will open its new season with “Celebrate!” on October 2 at 7:30 p.m. and October 3 at 2:30 p.m. at Mobile’s Saenger Theatre. The concert features Piotr Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 and includes two popular U.S. favorites, “America the Beautiful” and a fanfare on “Amazing Grace.” On October 14, three high-profile songwriters from Nashville will join MSO for “Music City Hit-Makers,” a part-storytelling, part-comedy event with acoustic symphonic performances of hit songs. Violinist Bella Hristova returns to Mobile to perform Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Violin Concerto No. 3” in Bella Musica on November 13 and 14. On December 11 and 12, MSO will hold its annual holiday concert, “Joy to the World,” featuring baritone Ricardo José Rivera and Christmas favorites. Seats and rows will be blocked to accommodate social distancing, and masks covering nose and mouth are required. Performances continue to be approximately 1 hour without intermission, but MSO will review this policy on a concert-by-concert basis and post updates on its website. Additionally, the orchestra notes it is back at full strength following absences due to COVID-19.
