MSO Kicks Off Season With Goosby

The Mobile Symphony Orchestra (MSO) has announced that acclaimed violinist Randall Goosby will join it for its 2024-2025 season opener on September 21 at 7:30 p.m. and September 22 at 2:30 p.m. at Saenger Theatre Mobile. “In the short four years since he first played with us in 2020, [Goosby] has become something of a classical music superstar,” MSO Music Director Scott Speck said. “Now with a stellar international reputation, Randall returns with the Samuel Barber Violin Concerto. This piece is very close to his heart, and he has been performing it all over the world.” The concert will open with Benjamin Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra and culminate in Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances. Tickets are $20-$96 and can be purchased online, by phone at 251-432-2010 or at the symphony box office at 257 Dauphin Street in Mobile. Six-concert season memberships are $105-$432. MSO’s subsequent concert is its annual casual concert, “Beethoven and Blue Jeans,” on November 9 and 10. The season includes a concert of music from some of the world’s greatest movies, George Frideric Handel’s Messiah, a holiday concert and popular pianist Charlie Albright.
