MSO Opens Season On October 10-11
The Mobile Symphony Orchestra (MSO) opens its season on October 10 at 7:30 p.m. and October 11 at 2:30 p.m. at Saenger Theatre Mobile. “Three vivid musical canvases launch the Mobile Symphony’s season with spectacular colors, as we celebrate the connection between the visual and musical arts,” Music Director Scott Speck explains. “Berlioz’s Roman Carnival depicts a wild Mardi Gras celebration during the lifetime of Renaissance sculptor Benvenuto Cellini.” Former MSO Composer-in-Residence Kenji Bunch will bring cartoon imagery to life in a contemporary piece inspired by the paintings of Roy Lichtenstein, and Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition will portrays the whimsical, fantastical, sometimes monstrous creations of artist Viktor Hartmann. Tickets are $25-$102, and student tickets are $10. Six-concert season subscriptions are available for $132-$462.
