MSO’s Beethoven & Blue Jeans Is This Weekend

The Mobile Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is hosting “Beethoven & Blue Jeans” on March 14 at 7:30 p.m. and March 15 at 2:30 p.m. at Saenger Theatre Mobile. The laid-back concert features Radu Ratoi, who MSO calls “one of the world’s top accordion players,” performing a tango-infused concerto. Ratoi “performs Piazzolla’s Aconcagua Concerto, and we pair it with one of Beethoven’s most joyous symphonies,” MSO Music Director Scott Speck explained. “The concert opens with Kodály’s Dances of Galánta—a dazzling, toe-tapping tribute to Hungarian Romani folk music.” Tickets are $20-$99 and can be purchased online, by phone at 251-432-2010 or at the MSO Box Office at 257 Dauphin Street. Three-concert discounted season subscriptions are $54-$222. Concertgoers may enjoy an informative pre-concert talk, TakeNote, beginning at 6:30 p.m. before the Saturday performance and 1:30 p.m. before the Sunday performance in Room 1927 adjacent to the Saenger entrance on Joachim Street.
