Student Music Competition Application Deadline Coming Up

The University of Mobile will be hosting the 8th Annual Gulf Coast Steinway Music Competition at Martin Hall on its campus on February 8, 2023. Talented student solo pianists and other instrumentalists are invited to apply through December 12 to compete for a $200 cash prize and be invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City on June 13, 2023. Applicants must be elementary, middle and high school students or undergraduates from colleges and universities who reside in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana or Mississippi or study with a teacher who is a resident of these states. Participants will be students from the five-state region. They will perform two memorized pieces of contrasting styles, and award winners will be selected on the basis of their performance. The event is free and open to the public.
