Sullivan Exhibit Beginning Soon

MOBILE, Ala. — The Mobile Museum of Art is hosting artist Wanda Sullivan’s first solo museum exhibition, “Gardens of Hope,” beginning on September 16. Her imagery, most of which comes from her large Midtown Mobile yard or the campus of Spring Hill College (where she teaches and maintains a studio), will be on display through April 2, 2023. Sullivan has lived in Mobile since the third grade. An avid gardener, she will use her exhibit to examine the intersection between the natural world, her gardens and the effects of climate change. She has exhibited her work nationally in galleries and museums, including the Cole Pratt Gallery in New Orleans; Alabama Contemporary Art Center in Mobile; Eleanor D. Wilson Museum at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia; Wichita Center for the Arts in Wichita, Kansas; Santa Clara University Gallery in Santa Clara, California; and Xavier University Gallery in Cincinnati. Additionally, Sullivan will lead a gallery talk with her colleague LaVada Raouf at the museum on October 12 at 10:30 a.m.
