Yung Bleu Named Best New Artist

Mobile native Yung Bleu recently won a “best new artist” honor at the Soul Train Awards, AL.com reported. In the ceremony, which aired on November 28, the rapper gave “a shout-out to [his] whole city, Mobile, Alabama.” Industry news outlet Billboard ranked the win among its five best moments from the awards program, noting Yung Bleu was “the first artist since Chance the Rapper in 2016 to take home best new artist honors at both the BET Hip Hop Awards and Soul Train Awards in the same year.” Yung Bleu’s BET award, presented in October, was for “best new hip hop artist.” The honor recognized a breakout year for him, whose “Moon Boy” album (Yung Bleu Releasing Moon Boy Today) had topped Billboard’s chart of independent artists.
