Alabama Launchpad Competition Opens

Active early-stage seed fund investor Alabama Launchpad has opened registration for its long-running pitch competition for startups, AL.com reports. Despite being based in Birmingham, Alabama Launchpad solicits participation statewide. “Entrepreneurs with a social vision” are being sought for this iteration, dubbed the “Social Impact Competition,” through September 15. A partnership between the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama and the Alabama Power Foundation, it offers a combined prize of $75,000. There are two tracks for finalists—the concept stage for pre-revenue companies ($25,000) and the early seed stage for companies looking to accelerate growth ($50,000). Alabama Launchpad has funded 108 startups and invested more than $5.8 million since its inception.
