Hatch Fairhope Wins $2.5-Million Grant

FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The City of Fairhope recently announced it has received a $2.5-million U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration grant to establish a business resource hub for technology entrepreneurs at technology incubator Hatch Fairhope. The city and the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance are partners on the project, which will launch renovations at the Downtown Fairhope K-1 Center to provide shared office and coworking space for Hatch Fairhope, which currently resides in the nearby PNC Bank building. Fairhope Mayor Sherry Sullivan said, “This investment is only the beginning of the transformation of the entire education campus….” The city is matching 20% of funding to bring the total investment to $3.125 million. Reconstruction to the K-1 Center is to begin this fall with a target completion date of 2024.
