Local Students, School Win BBB Competition

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Central and South Alabama has announced that three local high schools were recognized in its recent Laws of Life Essay Competition. Overall winners in the statewide competition were as follows: first place, Emma Gates, St. Paul’s Episcopal High School, and second place, Faith Pham, McGill-Toolen Catholic High School. Additionally, Robertsdale High School won the award for most entries. This year’s competition prompted students to contemplate how honesty and transparency, or lack thereof, impact personal relationships and business. Students were encouraged to interview family businesses and community leaders to gain insight on the importance of core values in professional settings and how principles drive success. Winning students and their teachers won cash prizes sponsored by BBB and supported by a grant from the Alabama Humanities Alliance.
