Minority Business Development Program Sets Dates

A Minority Business Development Program will be held on Thursdays between February 25 and April 29, 2021, at 5:15-8:15 p.m. Only selected entrepreneurs will be allowed in the virtual classroom. The 10-week class is intended for potential entrepreneurs with an idea or business concept (pre-start-up stage) and minority business owners whose companies have been in business less than a year. The focus on topics critical to launching start-up businesses will include expert speakers on “Lean Launch” and “Business Model Canvas” concepts. Upon completing the program, graduates will receive a small stipend and present their idea to a judging panel in a competition for cash and in-kind services. Those wishing to apply may do so via the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce, which has partnered with the University of South Alabama’s Melton Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the City of Mobile, Innovation Portal and the Alabama Small Business Development Center.
