SAWDC To Dissolve

SAWDC AlabamaWorks! has announced it will be dissolved by June 30. “This decision was not made lightly, as it reflects a response to the recent Alabama Workforce Transformation Act, which will realign the state’s funding for workforce initiatives,” the organization said. “These changes will redirect efforts across the state and have, in turn, reshaped SAWDC’s ability to continue serving our community in its current capacity.” SAWDC’s efforts have been to bridge education, industry and communities to help build a highly skilled workforce for Southwest Alabama since its inception in 2008. SAWDC’s services and programs, including the Educator Workforce Academy, Career Coach Connect, the AIDT Leadership Skills Courses, Dale Carnegie workshops, hiring events and summer internship development will continue until the dissolution. SAWDC said efforts will be made to ensure continuity and handoff where necessary.
