Mobile Chamber: Sisson Resigns; Events Coming Up

The Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce has announced that President and CEO William B. Sisson will be resigning from the chamber on October 15 to return to the East Coast, where he will be closer to family and pursue opportunities to consult on international economic development projects. The chamber said that under Sisson’s leadership, its economic development efforts produced more than 15,000 new direct jobs and $9.8 billion in new capital investment for Mobile. Innovation Portal was also created under his leadership. He earned a seat on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100 and is treasurer of the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. The Mobile chamber has appointed a team to conduct a nationwide search for a successor and is in discussions to name an interim executive.
Additionally, the chamber is holding the Diversity Business Forum, to consist of small business experts discussing “Financing and Accessing Capital for Business Growth and Expansion,” at The Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel & Spa on October 8 at 8:30-11 a.m. The chamber’s Eagle Awards Luncheon and Ceremony will follow the forum at 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., also on October 8 at the same location (BBN #48). Those interested in attending are asked to contact Brenda Rembert at 251-431-8607 or email or RSVP online by October 4. There is no cost for the virtual or in-person option to attend the forum, but in-person seating is limited to 30 people. The cost to attend the Eagle Awards event is $50 for members and $60 for nonmembers, with the virtual option being $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers.
