Community Foundation Of South Alabama Reaches Financial Milestone

The Community Foundation of South Alabama has announced it surpassed $100 million in assets under management. Board Chairman Marshall Shields highlighted the significance of this achievement for the future of charitable giving in the region. “The Foundation has never been in better shape,” said Shields. “Reaching over $100 million in assets under management is a huge milestone almost 50 years in the making.” Of the Foundation’s assets, more than 70% are endowed, meaning the funds are invested in perpetuity to support charitable causes for generations to come. A portion of each fund is made available annually for grant-making, while the remainder is reinvested to ensure continued growth and lasting impact. Shields noted that the foundation has had a banner year in new assets and distribution and pointed to the hard work of staff and board members.
