Mullet Festival Coming Up In Lillian

The 37th annual Mullet Festival, hosted by the Optimist Club of Perdido Bay, will take place on September 4 beginning at 7:15 a.m. at the Lillian Community Club. Runners and walkers will line up for a 5K at 7:30 a.m. or the 1-mi. fun run at 8:30 a.m. A breakfast will be available for $5 and lunch for $12, both of which are free for children ages 8 and under. Big Jake & the Tag-A-Longs will entertain with singalongs and dancing at 11 a.m.-2 p.m., and the mullet toss will take place at 10 a.m.-noon. Age-level prizes will be awarded at 12:30 p.m. in the Main Hall. There will also be a silent auction, market, bake sale and 50/50 raffle drawing. The longstanding event is the main fundraiser for the club, which provides approximately $10,000 in grants to local schools and area organizations that serve the needs of children and teens in the community.
