Dauphin Island Watershed Plan Complete

The Mobile Bay National Estuary Program (MBNEP) has announced completion of the Dauphin Island Watershed Management Plan, with strategies to ensure the island’s resilience over the long term. The comprehensive document was developed over two years with input from a range of stakeholders, including residents, businesses, government agencies and environmental organizations. It identifies priority areas for action, including improving water quality, conservation and restoration of critical habitats, preserving cultural heritage, enhancing community and environmental resilience, and providing for public access. “The Dauphin Island Watershed Plan is a critical tool for protecting our coastal resources,” said MBNEP Public Sector Program Lead Christian Miller. “This plan [will] help us address the most pressing challenges facing the Island and will be instrumental in efforts to preserve this special place for future generations.”
