Derelict Crab Trap Cleanup Coming To Mobile Bay

The Marine Resources Division (MRD) of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Gulf of America Alliance invite the public to take part in a derelict crab trap cleanup on Mobile Bay beginning at 8:30 a.m. on October 24 and 25. Kayakers are needed to mark the derelict traps on the first day in preparation for the main cleanup on the second day, when volunteers with small shallow-draft powered vessels and on-shore volunteers will be needed. There will be a post-event lunch and social for volunteers at Meaher State Park in Spanish Fort on October 25 at approximately 1 p.m. The event will include volunteer support by the Coastal Conservation Association. Groups or individuals interested in volunteering should contact Jason Herrmann of MRD at phone: (251) 968-9734 or email.
