Forestry Foundation Gets Grant For South Alabama

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation has awarded $350,000, which was matched with another $350,00, as part of $2.1 million in grants to restore and enhance aquatic habitats for vulnerable freshwater species in watersheds in the Southeast, Business Alabama reports. The goal is to engage landowners to improve the habitat for these aquatic species in a 10-county area in South Alabama. It includes increasing outreach and technical assistance to 120 private landowners to develop a management plan that includes best practices and implementing conservation practices.
