Glass Being Collected For Recycling Into Concrete

Mobile-based Osprey Initiative has teamed with the City of Fairhope to implement recycled glass in concrete projects for the Flying Creek Nature Preserve, WKRG reported. Osprey Initiative is collecting the glass being donated by the community. It will then be shipped to Glass Half Full NOLA, which will crush it into a sand-like material that will be shipped back to Fairhope to be combined with a concrete mixture and used for infrastructure. Glass is being collected at the Fairhope Farmers Market on Thursdays at 3-6 p.m. and at the Fairhope Public Works Recycling area. Pickup services are also being offered. The program will continue throughout October and may be made permanent.
