Mobile Wins Debris Removal Grant
The City of Mobile has received a $463,460 grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s Hurricane Response Marine Debris Removal Fund, Mayor Sandy Stimpson announced. The funding will be used to continue removing abandoned derelict vessels and marine debris still lingering in waterways from Hurricane Sally. The work, focusing on the city’s southern waterfront communities, will support the remediation and restoration of critical marine habitats and improve the overall health of waterways in the project area. The city is partnering with the Dog River Clearwater Revival and The Nature Conservancy, which Stimpson said will make it “get the most impact from these grant funds.”
