Osprey Initiative Grows Thanks to Litter Gitter

Alabama Newscenter recently wrote on Osprey Initiative founder and owner Don Bates on his patented Litter Gitter. Bates left his job at Mobile’s Thompson Engineering in 2018 to grow his business of supplying Litter Gitter services and consulting as an expert in tactical environmental solutions. Designed to collect floating trash in smaller streams and creeks, the invention is available as part of an annual maintenance agreement. The company has grown to approximately 20 people who maintain the devices at 41 sites in Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia, North Carolina and Ohio. It also analyzes and records litter collected to aid in creation of custom litter-mitigation solutions for clients. Osprey Initiative plans to further expand the Litter Gitter program into Florida, Mississippi and Arkansas over the next few weeks.
