Project Suggestions Being Accepted For GOMESA Funding

In anticipation of an upcoming 2025 Alabama Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA) funding disbursement, the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, State Lands Division is accepting project suggestions for activities and programs to be funded through Alabama GOMESA. GOMESA sets forth authorized uses of proceeds for the purposes of coastal protection, including conservation, coastal restoration, hurricane protection and infrastructure directly affected by coastal wetland losses; mitigation of damage to fish, wildlife or natural resources; implementation of a federally approved marine, coastal or comprehensive conservation management plan; mitigation of the impact of Outer Continental Shelf activities through the funding of onshore infrastructure projects; and planning assistance and the administrative costs of compliance. Project suggestions may be submitted via email as a PDF file or mailed to State Lands Division, c/o Jeremiah Kolb, 31115 Five Rivers Boulevard, Spanish Fort, Alabama 36527 by June 10 at 5 p.m. Questions may be submitted to the same email.
