Share The Beach Volunteer Kickoff Meetings Planned

The Alabama Coastal Foundation is holding volunteer kickoff meetings for the 2026 sea turtle nesting season for its Share the Beach program. The first will be on March 24 at 6-7 p.m. at Conservation Hall at the The Learning Campus at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, and the second will be on March 26 at 6-7 p.m. on March 26 at Shelby Auditorium at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab on Dauphin Island. Those wishing to become volunteers must attend one of the meetings. All returning volunteers are welcome to attend either session but will receive signup instructions from their team leaders on March 24. The objectives of the program are to mitigate human-related impacts to sea turtles, especially the effects of artificial light pollution; to monitor sea turtle nests and hatchlings on the Alabama Gulf Coast; and to promote the conservation of sea turtles in Alabama through public outreach and education.
