SmartMap 1.0 Course For Fairhope

The Alabama Cooperative Extension Program is hosting a SmartMap1.0 workshop at the Gulf Coast Research & Extension Center in Fairhope on October 22 at 8 a.m.-2 p.m. SmartMap 1.0 introduces audiences to low-cost and easy-to-use geospatial mapping apps for smartphones and tablets. The class reviews the basics of geographic information systems, GPS and smartphone applications. Intended for forest landowners who want to improve mapping on their properties; wildlife enthusiasts interested in mapping their properties for improved recreation; and recreational users who need to map forests for biking, hiking or roads, it provides hands-on tutorials to give attendees experience using these technologies. The workshop also introduces audiences to unmanned aircraft systems and their applications for video capture and forest mapping.
