VT MAE Pulling Out Of Mobile

VT Mobile Aerospace Engineering (VT MAE) said it “has made the strategic decision to undertake a capacity transition plan for its operations in Mobile. Under this move, VT MAE will progressively rationalize its Mobile operations and transition its airframe MRO [maintenance, repair and overhaul] activities to facilities in Pensacola, Florida, and San Antonio, Texas. The process is estimated to take place over the next few months.” It added that “providing comprehensive support to employees will be a top priority during this transition,” which includes redeployment opportunities at its other U.S. facilities, as well as outplacement and transition assistance. The company said it will also work with local communities including the state, city, landlord and industry partners for a smooth transition. Alvin Bass, general manager of VT MAE, said, “We are grateful for the support and successful history we have had in Mobile for more than 30 years, and we deeply value our longstanding relationship with the Mobile community. The difficult decision was made after we had gone through a long and careful consideration of multiple factors and options.”
