Hargrove’s Renewable Diesel Earns Environmental Stewardship Award

Mobile-based Hargrove, a global engineering, procurement and construction firm, was recently recognized at the 23rd Annual Partners for Environmental Progress’s Environmental Stewardship Award presentation for its approach to transforming an existing small refinery into a renewable diesel production facility in Mobile. The awards program aims to recognize local organizations who have exhibited exemplary commitment throughout the year to protect and improve Alabama’s coastal environment. Hargrove, alongside construction partners Vertex Energy and Turner Industries, put Mobile on the map for innovating renewable diesel technology after Vertex acquired Shell’s Mobile refinery in 2021. During Phase I, Hargrove’s Construction Management Team modified the refinery’s existing hydrocracking unit to produce renewable diesel on a standalone basis.
