Mobile Seeking Partners For Affordable Housing Program

MOBILE, Ala. — The City of Mobile is looking for partners willing to acquire, develop, market and sell 40-100 single-family affordable housing units in the city, particularly the neighborhoods east of I-65 like Crichton, Toulminville, Maysville, the Campground, Texas Hills and Africatown. The Neighborhood Development Department is now accepting qualifications from individuals and firms with the experience and capacity to manage the development of four or more single-family units from acquisition to disposition. Using funds from the federal American Rescue Plan previously earmarked for affordable housing, the city is able to provide construction financing to qualified developers through a loan paid back to the City once a home is sold to a qualified buyer. Participating developers also receive a fee for creating an affordable housing unit upon closing.
