Thompson Engineering Acquires Barry A. Vittor & Associates

Thompson Engineering, a multi disciplined engineering firm with offices in eight Southeastern states, has announced the acquisition of Barry A. Vittor & Associates. Vittor & Associates is a nearly 20-person environmental research and consulting firm known for its laboratory services in benthic ecology and its broad experience in wetland assessment and restoration. Vittor & Associates was founded in 1977, and, like Thompson Engineering, is headquartered in Mobile. The acquisition was effective November 1. “The Vittor team is one of the most sought-after firms in the nation for projects involving bottom-dwelling invertebrates and is highly regarded along the Gulf Coast,” said John Baker, CEO of Thompson Engineering. “In addition, the Vittor team’s talents in wetland delineation, permitting and restoration will enhance our environmental service lines, particularly in the industrial and transportation markets, where we’re seeing significant growth.” Thompson Engineering is part of Thompson Holdings, which acquired Meyer Engineers of Metairie, Louisiana, and the Alabama operations of Burk-Kleinpeter in 2022. Thompson Holdings is also the parent company to Watermark Design, an architectural firm, and Thompson Consulting Services, a disaster recovery services firm.
