Watershed Wins National Innovation Awards

Watershed, a green architecture firm in Fairhope, recently received three national U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) 2022 Housing Innovation Awards for its work on Zero Energy Ready homes in the area. The firm received awards in the “Custom Spec” and “Custom Homes for Buyers (more than 2,500 ft2)” categories, as well as the Grand Winner Award, one of the night’s top honors, for the Mobile Bay Inspiration Home. To qualify for the awards, homes must be certified as Zero Energy Ready—one of the nation’s most rigorous residential building standards—by a verified third party. According to DOE, the awards are used to celebrate “the most impressive and advanced homes among leading DOE Zero Energy Ready Homes.” There are currently only six total certified Zero Energy Ready Homes in Alabama.
